Olathe United Can Clinch First Select League Title Friday Night

Updated: Aug 3

The champagne is on ice in Olathe as United stand on the verge of making club history this Friday night. Sitting nine points clear at the top of the Select League table, Olathe United can officially clinch their first-ever league championship with either a win or draw against Southside FC.

It has been a remarkable campaign for United, who are looking to cap off what has already been a dream season. With just a handful of matches remaining, Todd Esh’s squad has put together a dominant run that has them in prime position to dethrone defending champions Woodland FC and lift the trophy themselves.

The only blemish on Olathe United’s record came on June 20th, when they were held to a thrilling 2-2 draw by Woodland FC — a result that snapped their perfect season but reinforced their status as league favorites. That draw, however, has done little to slow United's momentum, and the club remains unbeaten heading into Friday's critical fixture.

Much of Olathe’s success can be attributed to head coach Todd Esh, who has earned back-to-back Manager of the Month honors for April and May. Under Esh's guidance, United has combined tactical discipline with attacking flair, making them one of the most well-rounded teams in the Select League.

Southside FC will be looking to play the role of spoiler, but the stakes couldn’t be higher for United. A win or even a draw on Friday night would secure them the Select League crown — a remarkable achievement for the club in just the league’s second season.

Kickoff is set for Friday evening 7:00 pm at Blue River Park, with Olathe United fans hopeful that by the final whistle, history will be made and the title will finally be theirs.
