After a weather delay, a scare from Northland FC, and weeks of dominance, Olathe United have officially claimed the 2025 Select League Championship, writing their names into league history as only the second club ever to hoist the trophy.

United had a chance to wrap things up back on July 11, needing just a draw away at Southside FC to seal the deal. But nature had other plans. A promising start was washed away after just seven minutes as thunderstorms forced an abrupt postponement. A cruel delay, perhaps—but one that only sharpened the focus of a team on a mission.

Fast forward eight days to a buzzing home crowd and a steely Northland FC looking to play spoiler. United needed just one point to lift the cup, but Northland struck first, silencing the stands and threatening to drag the champagne celebrations into another week. The visitors controlled much of the first half and looked the likelier side to score again.

But Olathe United has made a habit of imposing their will, no matter the scoreboard.

What followed was a second-half surge that left no doubt about who has ruled the Select League this season. Three unanswered goals—each one more emphatic than the last—turned the match on its head and delivered a 3–1 victory that secured the league crown in front of their home supporters.

With two matches still to play, Olathe United have already wrapped up the title in dominant fashion. Their only blemish this season? A late draw against last year's champions, Woodland FC. Otherwise, it’s been win after win, including a triumphant run through the Kansas State Cup, giving them an impressive double to mark a sensational campaign.

And the ride might not be over just yet.

With their Select League triumph, Olathe United has earned a berth in the U.S. Open Cup—one of the nation’s most prestigious soccer competitions. Whether they’ll take the field in that tournament remains to be seen, but one thing’s for certain: Olathe United have arrived, and the rest of the league is now playing catch-up.
